Explanation
Demolition work in this neighborhood was being rushed, because this area was near the city center. However, being only 0.5 km from the hypocenter, it was completely destroyed by the atomic bombing. As a part of reconstruction project after the war, Peace Memorial Park was built in its neighboring area, and the name of South Tenjin-cho also disappeared.
