Koami-cho Townspeople Monument

Young ladies,
Treadling sewing machines or
Burnishing shells to support the home front,
Your souls were consumed by the sun dropped from the blue sky.
You must have wanted to work
Not for war but for life.

Explanation

On that day, many people were in Koami-cho, including Koami-cho residents, students and teachers mobilized from in and around the city for building demolition and female service corps volunteers for labor.

Koami-cho Townspeople Monument

This monument is dedicated to all the victims A-bombed there.

The monument for the A-bomb victims, formerly situated in the Sankoji Temple yard, was rebuilt at the present Peace Boulevard green belt in 1976, so that everyone could visit it.
