Explanation

Third Municipal National Elementary School Monument

The Third Municipal Higher Elementary School was one of three higher elementary schools established in 1932, and renamed the Third Municipal National Elementary School under the National School Ordinance issued in 1941. Two hundred and ten staff members and students were killed from the A-bombing. After the war, this school resumed as Midori Junior High School under the new education system. Since then, commemoration ceremonies have been held regularly by all the school staff, students and the bereaved families. A stone post inscribed, “Third Municipal National Elementary School,” is beside the school gate.

Location : Midori Junior High School, Midori, Minami-ku
