22. Sanyo Middle School Monument
The five hundred four souls of teachers and students,
You would have been eager to study more.
You would have wanted to talk about your youth.
May your sweat develop the New Hiroshima!
Explanation
This school was at Takara-machi when A-bombed. After the war it was rebuilt at the same place.
In 1966, the school moved to its present location, Kanon-shinmachi, for a peaceful environment for education, where this monument was also relocated.
This monument says that 17 teachers and 486 students were killed by the A-bombing.
