Since its foundation, Hiroshima Bank has gone through several mergers and reorganizations. Therefore it is difficult to know the extent of the damage caused by the A-bombing. Right after the A-bombing, the bank put the top priority on citizens' convenience. They allowed its clients to withdraw their deposits and to take out loans, even though they lost their official seals or bank books.
This monument is dedicated not only to their workers who died from the A-bombing but also to all the deceased workers before and after the war.
