5. Telegram and Telephone Public Corporation Workers Monument

Telegram and Telephone Public Corporation Workers Monument

Can you hear?
The parabola antenna on Mt. Chausu is
Calling out through the air:
“The recollection of HIROSHIMA should be
The recollection of the world.”

Explanation

Telegram and Telephone Public Corporation Workers Monument

About 600 workers out of 2000 were said to have died at the Telegram and Telephone Public Corporation. The monument was erected by the workers on the 10th A-bomb anniversary.
The inscribed poem near the monument reads:

Let the recollection of Hiroshima
Be the recollection of the world.
Let the grief of Hiroshima
Be the grief of the world.
Never having told us the agony of the day
When heaven and earth were destroyed,
My friends are sleeping here.

Location : Moto-machi, Naka-ku
