23. Sakan-cho Townspeople Monument

Sakan-cho Townspeople Monument

Once there was a cold summer,
The town disappeared into a sea of flames.
Once there was a hot winter.
Even now
With the after-effects all over their bodies,
The survivors pray for ordinary daily lives.

Explanation

There are stone plaques on both sides of this monument, inscribed on which are the names of victims living in and around Sakan-cho, together with some other connections.
