Hanging on your shoulders
Heavy-looking black leather bags
With their mouths agape,
You say, “Here is your mail.”
This is where those mailmen are resting
Like delivering happiness.
Explanation
The Hiroshima Post Office was located in Saiku-machi, presently Ote-machi, Naka-ku, 100 m from the hypocenter.
The names of 222 employees, 64 mobilized students and two accompanying teachers are engraved on this monument.
