Ujina Townspeople Monument

Port town, Ujina,
The town that saw soldiers off, Ujina.
That day
Soldiers, despite their own injuries, engaged themselves in rescue operations.
May peace after that flash

May the port town never again see soldiers be sent out.

Explanation

This monument is one of the collections of statues of Buddha and high rank priests by Hajime Hamada, who lost his father in the A-bombing. He collected these statues in order to console the A-bomb victims. Now, together with 3,000 other Buddha statues, this statue of Shinran Shonin is in Jishinan, in Asahara, Hatsukaichi City, which was meant to be a memorial place for the dead.
