Hiroshima District Lumber Control Related Corporations Monument

In war and peace
Wood is a useful resource for culture.
When the war culture finally ended,
You were sacrificed.
May lumber be used for peace forever.

Explanation

During World War II, national and prefectural departments set up offices in the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall (the present A-bomb Dome).

Two hundred and sixty workers of the Hiroshima District Lumber Corporation worked here. At the A-bombing, about 100 workers were killed in and around the building.

Hiroshima District Lumber Control Related Corporations Monument

This monument is dedicated to the A-bomb victims of the Japan Lumber Corporation Hiroshima Branch and the Hiroshima Ship Lumber Corporation.

As this monument is on the side of the A-bomb Dome, people often visit it and offer flowers, assuming that it is dedicated to all the A-bomb victims.
