Matoba Townspeople Monument

Without sparing even a house,
This town was flattened down.
The twelve years of wishes
For the men and women in the neighborhood
Have become a monument with 65 names engraved on it.

Explanation

Matoba Townspeople Monument

At the time of the A-bombing, this area had 197 buildings and a population of 696 with 196 households.
The recorded damage of this area was as follows: 100% of the houses completely destroyed, 34% of residents instantly killed, 30% injured, and 36% uninjured.
Sixty-seven names are engraved on this monument but two of them have apparently been scraped away.
